WHAT IS SURIMI AND HOW IS IT MADE?

To know what surimi is, we need to go back a few centuries. The origin of surimi is not well known, although it has been part of traditional Japanese cuisine for 900 years. Since there were no cold rooms at that time, the Japanese invented this technique consisting of the extraction of fish protein as a method of preserving this highly appreciated food. Today, surimi continues to be an alternative to enjoy the benefits of fish and is present in a multitude of dishes such as ramen, a soup that is part of the Asian country’s daily diet. The elaboration of surimi cannot be carried out if it is not only from the loins of the fish, which is proof of a close relationship between surimi and beneficial nutritional properties.   

FISH SURIMI 

What is surimi made of? A quality product such as Krissia surimi is made from Alaska pollock, a species of the cod family whose fishing is carried out sustainably in the transparent and clean waters of the Bering Sea, in Alaska. Always at sea and at a temperature of 0°C, its protein is obtained and frozen at 0°C to preserve the qualities of the fish. At the Krissia facilities, surimi is mixed with natural ingredients: egg white, sunflower oil, corn starch, salt and paprika, a spice that gives it its characteristic orange color. IS SURIMI GOOD?
